Kevin A. Barry: The Microblog |
Coimhéad fearg fhear na foighde. This is the personal microblog of Kevin A. Barry. It was designed as a way for him to express his unique perspective on life. The views and opinions of this blog are his own and do not represent those of his employer and/or his other professional affiliations. |
Jeff Sheng is a activst and photographer in West Hollywood. He is also someone I call a friend. During my days in Los Angeles, I remember Jeff telling me and his then-boyfriend, Brandon, about “Fearless,” his photography project on “out” lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender athletes on high school and college sports teams. It was his way of confronting homophobia in sports.
In Jeff’s recent “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” exhibit, he conveys the stories of the gay and bisexual men and women who serve in the U.S. military. And because his subjects are forced to keep their sexual orientations under wraps in order to serve, Shen’s photos are portraits without faces.
Jeff is very passionate about his work and it shows. Kudos to Jeff for this achievement! Its always nice to see people you know succeed.
